Reworking My Old Character: Shaolin

This character was one of my first creations and one of my all time favorites. It was originally created in 2010, revamped in 2013, and now in 2016 I have decided to give it new life by reworking some of the anatomy, finessing the skin texture and facial features, and finally after many years of being gray I am giving it some color. I will also be re-working the clothes as well as his sword. So stay tuned for more update renders to come.

As you can tell the face has changed radically from the previous one. Still need to add more hair follicles, eyelashes, eyebrows, and skin discolorations. Clothes and weapon still to come.

This is the final result of the skin texturing. The texture painting was done by hand using polypaint in ZBrush. Material was done in ZBrush by using a QuadShader. Eyes create and painted in ZBrush, and finished in Photoshop. Rendered in Zbrush’s BPR.
Clothing and weapons are next. Stay tuned!

Finally I am done with this character. At least the ZBrush part is done, which in this case it was the majority of the process. I will move into Substance Painter and try to improve the textures if possible. After that I will try to get this guy into Maya and get some nice renders out of Mental Ray.
